FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Most patients come to us through their family dentist. If you don’t have a referral, call our office and we’ll help you get started. Some insurance plans do require one, so check your benefits. If your dentist has already taken X-rays, bring them or ask them to send them so we can avoid repeat imaging. Dentists can learn more on our Referring Doctors page.
Cost depends on the procedure, the number of teeth involved, and the type of anesthesia. After your consultation we give you an estimated out-of-pocket cost before any treatment, and we submit the claim to your insurance on your behalf. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, FSA and HSA cards, and CareCredit financing. See Cost of Dental Implants for implant pricing details.
You choose the level of comfort that’s right for you. Options include local anesthesia, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), IV sedation, and general anesthesia. Dr. Allen is trained in anesthesia as part of his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency. If you have IV sedation or general anesthesia, you’ll need to skip food and drink for eight hours beforehand and have an adult drive you home. Learn more about our sedation options.
The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons recommends having wisdom teeth evaluated by an oral surgeon in the late teens or early twenties, when roots are not fully formed and recovery is usually faster. Removal is often recommended if the teeth are impacted, crowding other teeth, hard to clean, or causing pain or infection. We use 3D imaging to see exactly where they sit. Often, yes. Many patients who were told they don’t have enough bone can still get implants with procedures like bone grafting, a sinus lift, or socket preservation.
